I have a HP 620LX and have tried to set it up with ActiveSync 3.1 using a serial cable connected to a USB port expander, which is assigned to Com 3. When I start ActiveSync it goes through the initialization sequence, looking for a Com port but never progresses beyond looking at Com 1. I have my ISDN router on Com 1 and don't really want to change it. Is there any way to get ActiveSync to recognize and work with Com 3?

Hi,
I suggest you confirm that the USB port expander is available as Com3 in the Control Panel - System - Ports. If it is then it may not allow all the serial port functionality that ActiveSync requires. Please post the make and model so other users can help.

The serial ports do show up in Control Panel. The port expander is an Entrega 4U2S1P.

Hi,
The USB com port is not registering as a com port from what ActiveSync reports. That's the reason you can't sync with it. I suggest you contact the manufacturer of your USB serial port and see why it does not register as a port.
