hi, i`m new to the group, i gave my wife a be-300 a few years ago and she never used it, now i just gave her a ipaq for Christmas, and she loves that, so i decided to take the be 300 out of box and use it myself. the thing is, i don`t know anything about PC`s or mini PC`s. i connected the thing to my PC, and i i know how to use PC connect, but i want to know, is there a way to use wifi to get on the internet? what do i have to buy? i`ll thank you guys for any help you can give me.
thanks. Louie. Smile

I have a large collection of driver software for many of the CF Wi-Fi cards available. In my software searches, I have never seen Casio BE-300 compatability or drivers mentioned on any manufacturer's site. And back when the BE-300 was actively discussed in forums, especially on Brighthand, no one seemed ever to mention getting online with one. I could be mistaken of course. You'll probably find the best information if you go to some BE-300 specific site, such as the 'Groom Family' site if it still exists or some other specialised place. Google might be of some use here.

The BE-300 was not intended to be capable of much beyond basic PIM functions. Many users were frustrated by this, and some alternate software interfaces or environments were developed, especially something called 'ePod' I think. These enhanced the user experience, even added some functionality, but I don't recall this going much further than hacking some PPC applications so that they'd run on the 'business manager' as Casio dubbed the BE-300. For proper connectivity and other advanced functions you'll probably find a true Pocket PC to be more suited to the job.

I used my BE-300 with a modem that plugs in on the top in order to receive and send e-mails when I took part in an e-mail chess tournament. That worked well. But surfing with the BE-300 Internet browser is tedious. One can, however, vists WAP sites. The BE-300 is very useful if you don't need to have recourse to all kinds of software for handhelds.
